Web Design &
Logo Redesign for
FREAKOUTSHOP

Overview

Freakout Shop, inaugurated in September 2023, is a unique combo of a tattoo and barbershop. The team, composed of talented artists, aims to make their shop a popular spot in their area.

This case study will outline the creation of Freakout Shop's website and the redesign of their logo. We will delve into their strategy to blend two crafts—tattooing and barbering—into a singular unique brand. We'll also examine how their choice of artistic styles in tattooing aligns with their overall aesthetic, and how this is reflected in their new logo and website design.

Role

Objective

As a newly established business, Freakout Shop recognized the importance of having a website to establish their online presence, provide information about their services, and showcase their work.

Additionally, they needed guidance in developing their brand identity and logo. Consequently, I was tasked with the challenge of building their website from scratch and assisting them in forging a unique identity that truly represents their shop.

Process

LOGO REDESIGN

For the logo redesign, one of the artists had already designed a logo for the shop. I was given the freedom to refine this logo as I saw fit, with the only stipulation being that the emblem element of the original design should be retained. In the process of enhancing the logo, I made minor adjustments, while also providing additional design suggestions they could consider for a potential redesign.

Old Logo

Sketches

I wanted to experiment with different type of circular emblems while also potentially creating a wordmark as a secondary logo.

Final Logo

RESULT

I preserved the original emblem while making subtle alterations to enhance its visual appeal. Various iterations were examined, featuring modifications in typography and layout. The removal of the outer strokes lends a sense of liberation to the emblem, which mirrors the unrestricted creative expression of the artists' tattoo aesthetics.

WEB DESIGN

The primary challenge was to distill and express the shop's unique identity effectively through the website design.

BOKOR

Prototyping

I created various sketches and prototypes to determine which one best suited the brand's identity.

SOLUTION?

I made the strategic decision to merge the two prototypes, carefully selecting and integrating elements from each that complemented each other and best represented the brand's identity.
